Yukon Young Farmer Events - Jan 23 & 24th

The Yukon Young Farmers (YAA committee) will be holding their Annual General Meeting on Saturday, January 23rd at the Whitehorse Public Library and have invited Elwood Quinn, a Quebec-based farmer, to deliver presentations before and after the AGM on Saturday, and also one presentation on Sunday at the Westmark Hotel.
Saturday, January 23rd
10:30am: Rare Breeds and Heritage Livestock of Canada
12pm: Yukon Young Farmers Annual General Meeting (Lunch is provided)
2pm: Raising Livestock in a Cold Climate
Sunday, January 24th
2pm:   Bee-keeping and Pollination
Specific examples will relate to berry growing.
Elwood Quinn is a director with Rare Breeds Canada (Heritage Livestock). Since 1982, Elwood and his family have owned and operated a 110 acre farm near Montreal. Quinn Farm is home to pigs, sheep, chickens, rabbit, horses, llamas and goats, some of which are rare breeds of livestock. The farm offers U-pick and farm gate sales of berries, apples, pumpkins, squash, and trees as well as asparagus, corn and other vegetables.
