The Art of Fine Food is this year's theme for the Wildwood Festival to be held Aug 3, 2008, at the Lorne Mountain Community Center, Lorne Mt. We plan a one day event that will focus on the quality of food, the art of preparation, local production and the celebration of eating.

  • There will be booth space- please bring your own, though there is some covered veranda if you cannot- to sell local product, to promote aspects of local food production ( the chicken trailer will be on site and demonstrate!)

  • We will have an organic inspector on site to talk about the new Organic regulations.

  • demonstrations of cheese-making, bread, the art of ʽcoffee cuppingʼ, and more.

  • There will be a food art gallery exhibition, which will get eaten at the Slow Food Potluck. Also a vegetable exhibit that is not a competition, rather a display of what we can do up here!

  • First Nations will set up meat and fish drying racks and have elders on site to talk about ʽlocal foodʼ

  • An animal farm will demonstrate the connection between animals and our plates.

  • There is music, theatre and pageantry throughout the afternoon and a barn dance in the evening.

There is room to be involved if good, quality food is important to you. Please call Shiela Alexandrovich if you want info or to be involved, at 668-5964, or Box 10011, Whse, YT, Y1A-7A1. I do not access email well, so it is a poor way to get hold of me.
