Yukon Agricultural Association

On behalf of our Board of Directors, it is my pleasure to welcome you to our association's website.

The YAA started in1974, and is still alive and well with a strong membership. Our members represent the association on a number of committees-Mayo Road Land Committee, Storage Bin Committee, Equipment Committee, Yukon Young Farmers, the Agriculture Industry Advisory Committee, the Growing Forward 2 Review Committee, and the Growing Forward 2 Research Committee. Together we are working to advance agriculture in Yukon.

This year YAA has been primarily focusing on initiating work at the YAA Land Lease, a 65-hectare parcel on the North Klondike Highway. A new access road is in place, as is some new fencing on the perimiter. A conceptual site plan for the parcel  is newly completed, offering possibilites and next steps on the way forward.

In April, two past presidents made a presentation to Whitehorse City Council to request the development of the land zoned "agriculture" in the Cousin's Airstrip area. The lack of available land for future farmers is an issue we continue to work on for our membership.

Members will notice that YAA is undertaking short surveys on a regular basis, and we appreciate your participation each month. Please consider supporting us with an annual membership fee of $10 per person-your voice and input is important to YAA and to the industry.

Thank you for visiting us on line and if possible, come and visit us in person! Board members are always available and willing to discuss issues and concerns you may have.

Sincerely,

Alan Stannard
Acting President
